Megan and Kyle’s Lovely June Wedding Day
June 11th 2016
I first had the pleasure of meeting Megan and Kyle back in the fall when they had booked a consultation with Michelle A Photography to discuss doing their wedding and engagement photography. Naturally I was absolutely thrilled when they contacted me that they wanted to book! We headed out back in May to Sifton Bog here in London to capture their engagement photos and after that day I was so SO excited to also capture their wedding day as well!
June 11th rolled around and honestly it was such a beautiful wedding day!!
The weather was insanely hot and the weather network had been calling for thunderstorms for weeks leading up to the weekend. That morning I woke up and checked the weather right away and the forecast had completely changed to be super sunny and I could have screamed I was so happy! Not just for me as the photographer but for Megan and Kyle as well as I know rain is one of the biggest stresses of planning a wedding.
We started at the Groom’s getting ready location and shot some details of Kyle’s military suit which was his suit for the wedding day! I felt so bad as my go to pose for the groom portraits is to have him put his hands in his pockets which is not allowed for Kyle to do in his uniform so I had to improvise.
We then headed out to the bride’s location. I was so excited when I saw her dress from David’s Bridal and it suited her perfectly! Detail shots are some of my favourites from a wedding day and also helps to tie the whole wedding day story together from beginning to end.
Getting ready is also a fantastic time to capture candids and special moments between family members, bridesmaids and also in this case Megan’s lovely sister, Robyn!
Also how lovely is this headpiece?! Her sister and maid of honour made it special for Megan for the wedding and I was swooning over it all day!
After the getting ready portion of the day was over we then headed down to their ceremony and reception venue Firerock Golf Club, I loved their decor and all the personal touches they put into their day from the ceremony card to the cage for cards! The ceremony was also the sweetest, they both said their own vows and you can tell that these two are meant to be!
Following the ceremony we all piled into the golf carts to venture out for bridal party and bride and groom portraits (following the family photos of course)! Megan’s something blue was this stitched into her dress, I loved this personal detail so I am so glad my assistant for the day Anneka captured this photo!
Of course it’s no surprise that my other favourite part of the day is photographing bride and groom portraits! I adore capturing the love between two people and Megan and Kyle were so much fun to work with and of course photograph! The little bridge area and tall grass made for lovely backgrounds to their images!
How lovely is Megan’s bouquet!! Done by the ever talented and amazing Springhill Flowers!
Once photos were completed we headed back to the reception to capture more details of the day. I loved how laid back their wedding day was! Instead of a formal sit down dinner they had different food bars through the night including a mac and cheese bar, taco bar, poutine bar and even a BBQ later in the evening! It was hands down a Michelle wedding as I actually eat like a 10 year old and I loved how awesome and delicious the food was!
The entrance, speeches, first dance, father daughter and mother son dances were all so heart felt and I honestly loved getting to be apart and photograph such an amazing wedding day! We ended everything with heading outside to capture that popular night photo!
Thank you Megan and Kyle for having me along for your amazing wedding day! I loved every minute of it and I wish the both of you a lifetime of happiness!
Also a huge thank you to their amazing vendors DJ Alpha, Springhill Flowers, Firerock Golf Club and Devine Wedding Design.
