Bethany and Jake’s Lovely Wedding Day
June 25th 2016
It’s officially fall over here! I mean not technically, but I love fall so much that once September starts its fall in my mind which means its time to get these summer sessions blogged! Starting with getting the rest of my June and July sessions up on the blog. Today is Bethany and Jake’s incredible wedding day!
I had the pleasure of first chatting with Bethany on the phone back in February and then scheduled a meeting to chat more about their wedding day. I was so excited when they decided to book and we headed out for their engagement photos back at the beginning of June. Their wedding day was June 25th which was also the day after one of my best friends got married, which I was a bridesmaid for! It was honestly my first taste of a double wedding weekend and even though I was exhausted after it was so worth it!
Bethany and Jake’s wedding was so unique and special! Her mother actually made her dress and flowers for the day, which were stunning! Her details were gorgeous and honestly some of my favourites I’ve ever photographed.
They had just purchased their new home just months before the big day and it was honestly the perfect backdrop for not only the detail photos but also for bridal portraits and bridesmaids portraits! It was so rustic and went with all their wedding day perfectly! I love when couples have an area planned for getting ready photos with beautiful light and lovely backdrops!
Bethany made little chalk boards for how she met all of her bridesmaids, and also let them all choose their own dresses in their own chosen shade of purple! It was so different and unique and I loved that every girl got to pick out their own outfit to wear.
After finishing up getting ready photos and all of Bethany’s lovely details, we headed outside for Bethany and Jake’s first look! First looks are honestly one of my favourite things on a wedding day. A lot of people choose to remain traditional and only see each other at the ceremony, but in this case their ceremony was a 9pm at night! First looks are such a great opportunity for photos and to just be with each other before the day gets going!
Also for anyone who knows me knows that since getting a puppy myself I am straight up dog obsessed! So you could imagine how excited I was to meet their sweet little Chow Chow and naturally had to take a portrait of her as well!
We then headed just down the street to their ceremony and photo location, which was a family farm in Norfolk County. We started by capturing their ceremony and reception details, everything was outside in the evening complete with twinkle lights and mason jars! We then started on the bridesmaid, groomsmen and bridal party photos which were so fun to capture 🙂
Since their ceremony was at 9pm at night we had so much time in the afternoon into the evening for photos and Bethany and Jake killed it! Their bride and groom portraits are by far some of my favourites, we had beautiful weather and a lovely sunset!
How cool is their cake, made by one a Jake’s aunts!!
Once 9pm rolled around their ceremony began, it was so lovely! They had twinkle lights, mason jars and of course the cutest church pews for their guests to sit at. It was such a unique way to celebrate their ceremony. They said it was so much more “them” to have a ceremony late at night and have a reception outside under the stars!
We finished off the day with my favourite night photo to date! We headed back to their ceremony location which made it that much more special!
Bethany and Jake your wedding day was lovely and I am so honoured you asked me to capture it! Congratulations and I hope you are enjoying married life!
Sincerely,
