Shoot and Share Contest Update
All of the results for the Shoot and Share contest were released on Monday! If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you probably saw my freak out about placing second in the ring category of the contest!!! This is huge for me, I have never ever won an award in my life so for this to happen in such a huge contest is honestly so amazing to me!
So first a little about the contest, the Shoot and Share contest this year began with 332,768 total images submitted from around 10,000 photographers worldwide! There were 25 categories across the board from weddings to families to wanderlust to newborns. You could enter a total of 50 photos into the contest and for that you would receive a “All in Badge” which was sent out to any photographer who bravely submitted all 50 images into the contest.
As this was my first year entering, I began by submitting only 25. I was so nervous and honestly terrified to be even submitting 25 images to the contest. A couple of days later something changed and I decided to just go for it and submit 25 more to make it a whole 50 images. Honestly this decision ended up being the best decision I could have made as the two images that placed the highest were the last two I entered!!
The coolest thing about this contest is that all the voting is done by the public. There are no judges just photographers and other people voting for all the photographs!
So I wanted to take the time to share all of my best result in the contest! I thought there was no way I would even make it half way in this contest, as I was voting I saw so many incredible images and even to rank as a Finalist was an amazing accomplishment for me.
Lets begin!
First, this is the ring shot that won 2nd out of the entire ring category which made it 2nd out of 8,304 total images in it’s category!
Next, I had one image place in the top 10% of the contest, which means it made it into round 10 out of the total 12 rounds of voting!
This image ranked 538 out of 35,527 in the Wedding Couple category.
I then had two images rank in the top 20%, which means they reached round 7 of the contest!
The ring shot ranked 1,438 out of 8,304 in the ring category.
The bouquet shot ranked, 1,431 out of 7,635 in the Wedding Details category.
Last but not least I had 3 images rank in the top 30%, which means they made it to round 6 so half way through the contest!
The top ring shot ranked, 1,666 out of 8,403 images in the ring category.
The couple shot ranked, 6,602 out of 32,282 images in the Engagement/Couple category.
The bottom ring shot ranked, 2,276 out of 8,403 images in the ring category.
Overall I am so proud of myself especially for my first year of entering! I made it so much farther then I could have ever dreamed! Thank you to everyone who supported me during this contest and of course to everyone who went to vote!
I can’t wait to enter this contest next year and I also wanted to send out a huge congratulations to all the other amazing London Ontario photographers who entered the contest and placed!!
