Caitlin and Austin’s Winter Wedding

My very first wedding of 2020 is making it’s way onto the blog today and although 2020 has been one weird year I am so thankful that I still have new work that I get to blog! Caitlin and Austin got so lucky as they tied the knot back in January before the pandemic hit changing the wedding industry for the time being. It was so odd going from a full wedding in January to not shooting again until June and having a few months were I wasn’t even allowed to work due to the lock down! 2020 has been insane for plenty of people with work, event plans and everything in-between but I never in a million years thought that it would be illegal for me to do my job for over 3 months!
As mentioned though I am so thankful that Caitlin and Austin got to have their fully planned wedding before all of the craziness that is this year went down! Myself and my amazing friend and second shooter for the day Shannon of Constantine Photography made the 3 hour drive from London up to Jackson’s Point on the morning of the wedding. We got so lucky that the weather cooperated for all of the driving as January can be one unpredictable month for snow and winter weather! Even better there was plenty of snow on the grown when we arrived AND as if that wasn’t enough it started snowing again just in time for the wedding party photos. We began the day with Austin as he got ready with his groomsmen and family members. There was so many cool parts to The Briars Resort and Spa and one of those things was that there are separate cabins on the property for people to stay. We captured some details, lots of getting ready moments and candids before heading over to the main building for groomsmen photos and getting started on bride getting ready photos!
We captured lots of bride getting ready before heading around the corner to a cute little church for Caitlin and Austin’s ceremony and then headed back to The Briars to do bride and groom images and wedding party photos! Honestly The Briars Resort & Spa is one of the coolest wedding venues I have ever had the pleasure of photographing at. They have such a lovely property indoors and out that allowed for some amazing and creative photos! Plus it is right on the water that was frozen over which made for one awesome back drop. Caitlin and Austin could not have chose a better day for their winter wedding and it was so fun to get a completely different look from their summer engagement photos that you can check out on the blog here!
The rest of the evening was full of hilarious speeches, a delicious meal, lots of sweet dances and some night photos before we said our goodnights and headed to our hotel for the evening!
It was such an honour to meet Caitlin and Austin and be apart of such a beautiful day! I wish them so much happiness in their lives together and it was so much fun meeting all of their family and friends!
