Christina and Nicholas’s Grand Bend labour day weekend wedding day!
September 4th 2016
Happy Thursday! I am a day late with this blog post as I meant to post it yesterday but with all the holiday celebrations and getting ready for the New Year and bridal show I am a little behind. So today on the blog I am sharing this lovely wedding day!
Guys, I am officially into September and kicking it off with Nicholas and Christina’s lovely wedding at Oakwood Resort in Grand Bend! I first chatted with Nicholas on the phone for about an hour, just about their wedding day, the colours, the vendors and of course the location. It was such a casual conversation and when they were in London (as they live in Toronto) we set a date to sit down and chat more in person! I was very excited when they decided to book and we headed out in August to take a look at the venue and to capture their engagement photos that you can check out here.
We began the day capturing Nicholas and his bridal party get ready. He is Scottish so he had the whole Scottish outfit for the wedding day. He also had customized cufflinks and tie clip with his initials and everything was so unique to him and Christina!
We then headed just down the hotel to where Christina was getting ready. Her dress, shoes and jewelry were all stunning and fit her perfectly!
I love when brides are able to incorporate something of family value to the wedding day, in this case Christina had a piece of her Grandmothers veil and handkerchief to carry with her! Also how amazing are these flowers done by The Backyard Flower Shop!
Once the getting ready portion of the day was complete we headed out to the patio for their ceremony. It was such a beautiful sunny and warm day, perfect for an outdoor ceremony!
Since Oakwood Resort has it’s own private beach, we headed down there to begin the bridesmaids, groomsmen and bridal party photos. I love this new trend of having a brides-man and grooms-women, it is an easy way to have your friends still stand up on your side but also fit into the party!
We began their couples photos down on the beach as well and then headed up to the pond near the ceremony area for more bride and groom portraits! I loved that Oakwood has so much to work with from the beach to the golf course for photos.
And of course, for anyone who knows me knows I adore ring shots (just look at my Instagram haha). Their rings were so unique and so them! They even had half a heart engraved into each ring to when they are put together they make a full heart!
I also loved their wedding theme and colours! They had three different types of honey for the favours but their overall theme was red and gold for the colours and since they are big readers each table was named after a book couple! There was everything from Edward and Bella from Twilight to Romeo and Juliet but my personal favourite was their head table named Harry and Ginny!
Also this cake! Done by Chick Boss Cakes.
I love weddings, which comes as no surprise. I recently was interviewed and one of the questions was what is your favourite part of the day to capture, of course I said bride and groom portraits but I think my favourite part of the day to just be there for is the reception. This is when you can really feel all the love from the family and friends for the bride and groom.
Congratulations Nicholas and Christina! I am so honoured to have captured your wedding day and I wish you so much happiness in your marriage!
Sincerely,
The amazing vendors who made this day possible,
