The Refresh Workshop

I was so lucky to be able to participate in a workshop with some of my favourite photographers back at the end of March. I recently posted a blog post about celebrating Michelle A Photography’s three year anniversary which also fell on the same day as this amazing workshop!
It was such an awesome experience! I signed up for the workshop back in the winter and had no idea what to expect from my very first school experience since graduating from the Fanshawe Photography program back in 2012. I woke up at 4am on the Sunday to make the drive to Peterborough Ontario for the day and honestly everything was so worth it, even the waking up crazy early part, as those who know me know I am not a morning person!
The day started at 10am and consisted of 10 photographers there to learn and 4 photographers as teachers. Jennifer Moher Photography, Hugh Whitaker Photography, Ash Nayler Photography and Jennifer’s lovely second shooter Erin all had so much insight to so many questions I had and aspects of owning your own wedding photography business!
I left with so much more knowledge to apply to my business, some amazing photos for my portfolio, a notebook full of amazing information and of course an insane amount of inspiration! I have so many new contacts in the wedding photography world and it was so lovely getting to meet so many other photographers from all over the place.
Not to mention that Jennifer happens to be one of my absolutely favourite photographers and getting to meet her was a huge thing for me!
It was a pleasure getting to meet so many amazing people from the teachers to the models and of course all the other photographers who participated in the workshop as well. It was a day of learning and fun, I can honestly say that doing this workshop was probably one of the best decisions I have made for my business and some new things are coming soon to Michelle A Photography!

After rambling on and on about how much I loved this experience, I also wanted to include some of my favourite photos I captured from the day. We got to spend the last hour or so with these two lovely models, who are actually engaged in real life and you can totally tell with all their chemistry! We then each got to spend 3 minutes alone with the models to use what we had learned from the day. It was also my first experience doing a styled shoot and I can’t wait to plan one of my own now!
