Anneka and Steve’s Lovely Winter Wedding ~ Zurich Ontario Wedding Photography

I first had the pleasure of getting to meet Anneka back when we both attended the Fanshawe College Photography Program in 2010, we became pretty good friends and both went off to start our own photography businesses after we had graduated in 2012! It was such a huge honour for her to ask me to photograph her and Steve’s wedding day shortly after they had gotten engaged and I could not have been more excited to say OF COURSE!
I also had the pleasure of getting to meet Steve when we ventured out in July of last year to capture their engagement photos on the beaches of Grand Bend! They are honestly meant to be! Between all of their gorgeous and nerdy details, their lovely bridal party and reception space their wedding was one for the record books here at Michelle A Photography.
We began the day in Grand Bend at a sweet little cottage to capture the Groom and his groomsmen get ready for the day! We got pretty lucky with there weather but that didn’t stop my little corolla from getting stuck in an icy pothole right out front and having some super nice stranger push my car out!
They are both HUGE fans of Doctor Who, so as this post continues you will see how many awesome Doctor Who details they put into their special day, starting with Steve’s amazing Doctor Who tie!
Also a super cool detail, people have seen the trend of dressing their bridesmaids all in different dresses and colours but they actually dressed their groomsmen all in different suits and ties/bow ties. It was super awesome to see groomsmen’s in mismatching clothing!
We then headed just down the street to another super sweet little cottage to photograph Anneka and her girl’s get ready for the day! Anneka had so many stunning details from her dress to her jewelry, it was so fun to photograph and the fact that she had made sure there was plenty of natural light was just the cherry on top 🙂
Some more Doctor Who themed wedding accessories, I got pretty excited when Anneka told me that Steve had bought these adorable Garters from Hot Topic, which as a teenager was pretty much my favourite store!
From there, we headed straight to the ceremony which was held at Zurich Mennonite Church which you probably could have guessed was in Zurich Ontario. Their decor and colours were absolutely gorgeous, who wouldn’t want to get married in front of this amazing set up they made! The Garden Gate Gifts and Florals did an absolutely incredible job with all the flowers for the wedding day!
We ventured out into the freezing cold and ice for some more photos, first stop was to Anneka’s horse Sassy who I might add rocked her photos 🙂
Anneka’s gown was also stunning! She found it at Once Upon A Time Wedding’s located in Strathroy Ontario and it suited her to a T!
After induring the cold we headed to the Library in Exeter Ontario to finish up the day! I was pretty excited to take some photos in a library for something new and different and they turned out pretty great!
Even though we were done before the reception we were asked to sneak in and capture all of the lovely details Anneka had worked so hard on for the day! It was a gorgeous set up, the room was surrounded by pine trees covered in christmas lights, there were vintage tea cups for dessert, board games set up in a lounge area and of course it would not have been complete without their Doctor Who wedding cake and centrepiece!
Anneka and Steve’s wedding day was so lovely and I am very honoured that they asked me to capture their day for them! I wish these two nothing but happiness in their marriage and a huge congratulations as they just purchased their first home together! I can’t wait to have Anneka along with me as my second shooter for the year and now as the weather gets warmer I finally have had time to Blog this stunning day!
