James and Kelsi’s Charles Daley Park Proposal
Something super special is making its way onto the blog to end off January today! I had the pleasure of capturing James and Kelsi’s proposal last June at Charles Daley Park. This was the second time I got to capture a proposal and they are always so amazing to document!
James was the best man at a wedding I photographed back in October of 2022. When he reached out to me in early 2023 to chat about his plans to propose to his partner Kelsi, I could not have been more excited. We went back and forth on the plans and the location before nailing down Charles Daley Park near St Catherine’s Ontario. It is such a lovely park right on Lake Ontario!
James planned to pop the question under a beautiful willow tree on the beach. He covered the trunk of the tree in photos of them, twinkle lights and candles.
I arrived fairly early to make sure I was in the right spot as I have never been to the park. When I made my way down to the beach I noticed there were a ton of people around which was super odd for a Wednesday evening. Turns out, we had planned the proposal on the summer solstice and there was a massive Drum Down the Sun event happening!
The amount of people around made the secret proposal even more of a secret as Kelsi was completely surprised by the plans! James hired a dance crew and began the proposal joining in for a flash mob. Then he got down on one knee under the willow tree to ask Kelsi to marry him!
What is really cool is that Kelsi proposed to James the year prior after they went skydiving! James wanted to create an equally special proposal for Kelsi and he did an incredible job. Plus check out the ring James got for Kelsi, it is absolutely stunning!
